Why You Need A Vacation

| Blog

In today’s busy world, stress is a common ailment that plagues almost everyone. It can be extremely exhausting to deal with day to day life, such as running the kids around and working a full time job. This is why taking the occasional vacation is a must, especially if you want to maintain your sanity. With the summer months quickly approaching, you may be thinking about planning a vacation for you and your family, friends or other loved ones. In case you had any doubts, here are three key reasons why you must make time from your busy schedule to plan a vacation.

Create Valuable Family Bonding Time

Throughout the year, you may feel guilty because you don’t seem to have enough hours in the day to truly enjoy spending time with your family. Taking a vacation can alleviate this guilt by giving you valuable time to reconnect. Whether you plan a weekend getaway at a local beach or a two week cross country adventure, a vacation offers you the chance to make memories with your family that will last a lifetime.

Experience New Activities and Sights

A vacation affords you the opportunity to experience activities and see sights you wouldn’t normally see by sticking around your hometown. Taking a vacation can open your eyes to all the exciting attractions our world offers. It could be anything from camping in the mountains or sunbathing on an exotic beach. The choice is yours!

Recharge Your Batteries

Life can be extremely stressful, and it’s not always easy to recharge your batteries in a way that is beneficial to your mental well being. When you take a vacation, you are allowing yourself to unwind and refresh from the everyday life. This is why a vacation can be so important to maintaining a healthy mental balance.

Bonding with your family, experiencing new activities, and recharging your batteries are only three of the many benefits associated with taking a vacation. So make an effort to plan a fun-filled, stress-free vacation this summer. You will make memories and experiences that will be fondly remembered for many years to come.

How To Feel Healthy, Wealthy And Successful

| Blog

With St. Patrick’s Day just around the corner, people are looking for ways to feel healthy, wealthy and successful, but as far as feeling great is concerned, many individuals are looking for the answers in the wrong places. Someone could have all of the money in the world, but that person would not be happy without the right mindset. The way that you look at and interact with the world is much more important than external circumstances. If you want to improve your outlook, you are about to learn the top ways to enhance the way you feel about yourself so that you can have fun and reduce stress.

Set And Achieve Goals

Even though people often believe that having more money or a better house will lead to a happy and fulfilling life, there is more to it than that. No matter how your situation changes, you will eventually grow accustomed to it. Rather than superficial factors, lasting happiness comes from setting and achieving goals and from making progress. So no matter where you are in life, always think of things that you would like to do, and you will be moving on the right path before you know it. As far as success is concerned, you will want to set both long- and short-term goals.

Manage Your Money

Although everyone wants to feel wealthy, few know what it takes to reach this goal, but the first step is to learn how to manage your money effectively. It does not matter how much money you make if you spend it right away, so finding ways to save is vital. When you take a look at your receipts and bank transactions for the past 30 days, you will likely find surprising ways to cut back and to reduce your spending. Managing your money might be hard at the start, but it will get much easier as time goes on.

Exercise and Eat Healthy Food

The No. 1 way to feel healthy is to exercise consistently and to make healthy food choices. Many people avoid this option because they don’t want to give up their favorite meals and snacks. The good news is that you can still enjoy the same foods that you have always consumed, but you will need to limit your portions. Aim to eat fresh fruits and lean meats six days per week, and you can dedicate a single day to eating what you want.
If you find it hard to motivate yourself to stay on track, document how you feel after eating processed foods. Next, try making the right choices for one day, but you need to pay attention to how eating properly and staying active make you feel. Most people have even more energy and find it easier to focus after a single day of making wise decisions.
Look and Prepare for Opportunities

You can start feeling luckier than ever by preparing yourself for the opportunities that come your way. If you wake up each day with the mission of finding the positive side of every situation, you will be amazed by the difference. You will also need to take steps to get ready for the challenges that will present themselves to you, and your luck will improve more than you might think.

Final Thoughts

Every choice that you make plays a role in your mood and sense of well-being, and you need to keep this fact in mind if you want to have any hope of achieving positive change. Making modifications to the way that you live your life might not be easy, but the rewards are worth it.

Take Time to Dance in the Rain

| Blog

Do you live to work or work to live? While most of us hope the answer to that question is the latter, the reality is that many of us put in far more hours at the workplace that we wish was the case. Many believe they can, or should, be doing more, or at least, doing better.

Maya Angelou said, “I’ve learned that making a living is not the same thing as making a life.”

But, it’s often difficult to leave work and separate our personal life from our work life. Cell phone technology has allowed all of us to walk around with a small computer in our pockets, never really disconnecting from a text or email that may come at any moment from a client, coworker or manager. Too many of us never really leave the office.

Work is important to provide the essentials of food, clothing and shelter, and of course, we want enough to enjoy the occasional eating out, vacation or a special splurge. Sometimes working more equates to earning more, but too often, working more simply means added stress and little time for the important things in life like family, friends and self. Work-life balance must be made a priority in our lives for physical, emotional and mental well-being.

A life of all work leaves no time to give back to our communities, help a neighbor or engage in the hobbies and interests we enjoy.

“At the end of the day, it’s not about what you have or even what you’ve accomplished…It’s about who you’ve lifted up, who you’ve made better,” says actor Denzel Washington on the importance of taking time to help others in our life.

Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Facebook, said “I spend most of my time thinking about how to connect the world and serve our community better, but a lot of that time isn’t in our office or meeting with people or doing what you’d call real work. I take a lot of time just to read and think about things by myself.”

While we may enjoy our careers and coworkers, it’s these things in our personal lives that usually make us feel fulfilled and complete. It’s this time we invest outside of the office that make our family members and friends feel important and valued.

Julianna Zobrist, musician and wife of Chicago Cubs baseball player Ben Zobrist, summed up work-life balance best. “There is so much pressure to be successful. And I’m not sure who decided they’re the boss on what success looks like, but mine is this: to work my tail off at music while loving and dating my husband, having three kids that bring me joy and keep me grounded, and making it home in time to enjoy dancing in the rain.”

Now, that’s the life.
